Lena and Lucie first contacted Natalie early in the spring asking if there were any opportunites for them come to Texas for an internship. The University the girls attend in France require them to take on an internship abroad, and they just so happened to find Two Be Wed while on their search for wedding planning companies in Houston. We were so excited to welcome these girls to Texas and to invite them to be a part of our team for a couple of months! They were able to assist with multiple weddings, styled shoots, attend a number of various planning meetings, and have some fun with us as we celebrated moving to a new studio! They also took some time to answer some questions about what they learned and their experiences while here.

IMG_1801

What was your favorite part of the internship?

Lucie & Léna : “Definitely [Two Be Wed Coordinator] Casey’s wedding… Because it was nice to being part of this important event for Two Be Wed…it was one of the more beautiful weddings that we got to work on! We also both liked working on our own styled photoshoot with Natalie at High Fashion Home, and shaping our project and what we learned during these 2 months, and we can’t wait to start it when we get back to France! Then, we also liked Galveston’s venue (Hotel Galvez). Even if it was very hot out there.”

IMG_1795 IMG_1793 sans-titre (3) sans-titre (7)

What did you learn about wedding planning?

“We learned that we have to be focused on details, accurate, ensure the event runs smoothly, manage the unforeseen, and be reactive! We also realized that it could be very stressful!”

What was your favorite part of living in Houston?

“SUN!!! The beautiful weather, people are very nice, very welcoming!”

What surprised you the most about the internship or living in Houston?

“The most surprising thing was how badly Houston’s inhabitants drive! They’re so crazy! Then, being stuck in the flood in Downtown was such a bad memory, the hurricane alert surprised us too because we don’t have that in France! Concerning weddings, American’s wedding budgets are so huuuge compared to France! BUT, French people knows best how to party until 5am!!”

What are some wedding trends or traditions that differ in American compard to France?

American’s wedding

French’s wedding

End is sooner (11PM)

End at 5AM

Dinner ends at 8.30PM (eat fast)

Dinner ends at 11PM

Details are very important

Guest buy new clothes for each wedding.

French use clothes that they already bought for an other wedding

Open bar

No open bar, bottles are on the table

Bride and groom are just together/not as much with their guest

Bride and groom are always with their guests

Wedding planning is more usual

Wedding planning is not very known

Food is not a priority

Food is one of the most important priority

Open bar

Each meal has its wine/drink

What are your plans now that you’ve completed the internship?

“We are still interested in the wedding planning field! But, first we want to be graduate, and probably after that, start a collaboration with the lovely Two Be Wed girls in France! ;) Besides planning weddings, we would also like to plan other events like birthday party, company meetings, etc…”

We wish Lena and Lucie the best of luck on the rest of their studies and hope they are back to visit soon! Stay tuned for Two Be Wed France…

It’s a well known fact that we are die-hard fans of Round Top, Texas. We make the trip every Spring and Fall, along with every other Texan and creative junkie to experience Antique Week. It’s a magical place and one of our happiest places to visit as it is an inspiration mecca. Fields upon fields, tents upon tents, filled with treasures with their own stories just waiting to be reborn and retold. So, when our good friends at The Vintage Round Top invited us to a social luncheon to meet and connect with the beautiful faces behind the legendary antique week and creatives alike – we could hardly resist!

Pie us happy! Now we know why it’s called the Pie Haven.

Held at the iconic Texas bistro, Royers Cafe “home of the Pie Man”, the whole afternoon and experience was tailored to reflect the atmosphere this creative bubble has worked hard to establish. From the local organic centerpieces to the hand-dyed tablecloths; it was friendly, comfortable and colorful just like the people of “Roundtopolis”. But, what is it that makes this sprawling countryside so appealing? The ladies of the Round Top Register described it best – “where the creatives gather for the thrill of the hunt!” Entrepreneur and Trend-setter Courtney Barton of Mela + Roam spoke more on the drive of a creative. “Everyone is authentic to who they are,” Barton said. “Get to know the people behind the product and what they’re selling.” That afternoon we discovered a room full of women, more alike than different – mothers, wives, business owners, trend-setters, stylists and artists – passionate about their craft and their clients, very similar to the heart of our own company. We didn’t think it was possible but in that country pie store, we fell even more in love with Round Top.

But it wouldn’t be an official trip to Round Top without visiting our favorite B&B and vacation home – The Vintage Round Top. It is the most chic, comfortable and conventionally located accommodations on Hwy 237. Owners, Paige and Smoot Hull, initially purchased and renovated the farmhouse as a creative outlet and family vacation getaway, but got much more than they bargained for. They have made their dream into a reality, and their mission is focused on helping other young artisans to nurture their own creativity into business ventures. We love this power couple and we love what they have created. Stylish lodging featuring modern clean lines, re-purposed vintage furniture and a home away from home that marries style, sustainability and soul. The perfect retreat for an anniversary, honeymoon, girls weekend, rehearsal dinner and more! See more of the space and the stunning decor on the VRT website, or see it person and book your stay now! Stay tuned for a collaborative project with VRT this fall!

The only thing we’re milking this Christmas is how much time we have left with our dear Agnes! Agnes and her handsome lads are heading back home to Scotland next Spring but she will always be our family here at Two Be Wed. A bittersweet Christmas, but a sweet one nonetheless!

What colors do you use in your home for holiday decorations?
I am such a sucker for all things metallic, my home is filled with gold details and sparkle. I adore candles and in Scandinavia it is common for us to light candles all day and night during winter. I love the huggley (danish word for cosy) atmosphere they create and the warmth they add by flickering off ornaments and decor!
What is your favorite holiday tradition and why?
Back home in Scotland, we have a German market which sets up only at Christmas, it’s kinda become a local tradition to visit and drink hot mulled wine while perusing the stalls in the freezing cold. My sister got engaged in the big Ferris wheel there too, so it’s a family spot now! I can’t wait to share it with Charlie bear (our wee man) when we get back!
What is your go-to gift for holiday parties/others?
Ladies: always a beautiful, vintage if I can, China cup and saucer. Or a gift card for two for high tea at your local is such a luxury treat these days. Who doesn’t want the excuse to savour good company and delish tea!  Men: classic shaving kits, bagger brush, Ceramic bowl, butterfly razor etc, or a good beer glass and some tasty season brew!

1) High tea for two! Ha! Ok not really but I’m a tea nut….so anything tea related.
2) Jo Malone or Penthaligon perfumes.
3) The gift of a personal trainer to whip me in shape for the new year!!

We’ve got the best of both worlds in today’s feature! Catherine is a country gal and Emily is a city chick, see how the two wishlists and holiday styles compare and differ!

What colors do you use in your home for holiday decorations?
I love lots of neutrals with just a bit of color added from fresh greenery, touches of red, and wood accents. Think “Christmas on the Farm” without the shabby chic. Simple, handmade if possible, and bring the outdoors in.
 fun 1st Christmas shoot
The Christmas tree is a different story, though. I like a tree with eclectic and mismatched ornaments that have been collected one by one over the years; each ornament recalls a story or sentimental memory.
What is your favorite holiday tradition and why?
Christmas stockings. As a child, I would wake up on Christmas morning and finally get to open my stocking that had been hanging above the fireplace for weeks. It would be filled with small, creative gifts and always included some Christmas candy. To this day, it’s my favorite tradition…even if I am now the one filling it!
What is your go-to gift for holiday parties/others?
You can’t go wrong with a bag of coffee beans from Pearland Coffee Roasters or a tin of peppermint bark from Williams-Sonoma.

1) The new Laura Ingalls Wilder autobiography—I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy!
2) The cream colored “Dhurrie Sofa” from Anthropologie—the number of times I have gone to their website just to stare at this dreamy sofa is embarrassing.

3) Ivory Vintage Style Kettle from World Market—it’s the perfect tea kettle.

What colors do you use in your home for holiday decorations?
I am a total sucker for the traditional red and green but always like to incorporate a pop of color whether it be a fuchsia or turquoise, to really give that extra oomph to my place. This year I used an oxblood accent in my ornaments. LOVE!
What is your favorite holiday tradition and why?
My favorite holiday tradition is making ginger bread houses. My mom goes all out when it comes to the candy decor for the houses and that makes it so much fun to have so many fun options as well as making more memories with my family gal-pals ;)
What is your go-to gift for holiday parties/others?
My go-to gift is always a bottle of Veuve Clicquot. It’s an elegant champagne and shouts, “Let’s celebrate!”
1) 96-pack of Starbucks Medium Roast K-Cups. Caffeine addict, much!?
2)  Kendra Scott necklaces, galore. She is a total fabulous woman and designer. I am proud to flaunt her work!
3) Taylor Swift concert ticket – her latest album, 1989, is perfection. I couldn’t imagine seeing her in concert.

What is your favorite holiday tradition and why?

What colors do you use in your home for holiday decorations?
My first memory of being in awe of Christmas decor was as a child looking through the pages of Southern Living. Because of that early influence my decor is pretty traditional with lots of red and gold with as much fresh Christmas greenery as I can get my hands on.
What is your favorite holiday tradition and why?

I received an heirloom nativity set from a dear friend and mother figure who passed away last year. Setting it up was always special to her and a tradition I was blessed to participate in with her family for many years.  This year I will set it up with my family as the central piece of our Christmas; reminding us of both her and of the Christ’s birth that we celebrate.

What is your go-to gift for holiday parties/others?

Food. I always love bringing something tasty to my friends and family during the Christmas season.

My Dad is very handy and has drilled into me the importance of “the right tool for the job”.  In my case my workshop is the kitchen, because of that my wish list is always laden with new “tools”.

1) Dutch Oven: You had me at multifunctional cookware.

2) Instant Read Thermometer: I’m going digital and not looking back.

3) Immersion Hand Blender: Slim, one-touch controls and comes in variety of colors, what more could a girl want?

Another day, another planner! Danyett is sharing the scoop on her favorite holiday, her obsession with ornaments and how the Baxter’s do Christmas!

What colors do you use in your home for holiday decorations?
I am open to all colors, but you will primarily find red and green in our home. Red holly berries across the mantle, green evergreen swags across the bookshelves. I like the look of the traditional Christmas red and green.  My family’s Christmas tree is a hodge podge of ornaments and every color is welcome. It includes ornaments from my childhood, my husband’s childhood, homemade ornaments from our sweet nieces and nephews and now our very own little ones, ( my daughter adds at least 5 new hand crafted pieces of art to the tree each year). Ornaments from my husband and I’s first Christmas, my children’s first Christmas, ornaments from my trips to Round Top with Nat, and ornaments I challenged others for at a yearly ornament exchange party:). New or old I love them all because there is a memory tied to each and every one.
What is your favorite holiday tradition and why?
Playing ornament “I Spy” while decorating the Christmas tree. My sister and I used to sit in front of the tree when we were kids and play this. Now I play it with my kiddos. “I spy an ornament with a gold bell, I spy an ornament with a green hat…”
What is your go-to gift for holiday parties/others?
Candles and Ornaments :)

1) Family Time: The number one thing I look forward to is time off with my family.

2) Cozy Socks: A few of my favorite things include cozy socks (something my Dad sends me every Christmas), ornaments and homemade goodies.

3) Ornaments:  I really love ornaments. To me, they are little memory capsules that I get to reminisce on each year. One of my December 2013 clients gifted me with an ornament she brought back from her honeymoon and I absolutely loved it. It went straight from the box to the tree!

We’re back with another lovely lady and more holiday goodies!

What colors do you use in your home for holiday decorations?

I love natural greens mixed with cool tones like blues, white and greys. I need to feel like I’m around nature at all times so I love to bring the colors of the outdoors inside!

40-Piece Ornament Set - Silver

silver ornaments

What is your favorite holiday tradition and why?

Sitting by the camp fire at my grandpa’s house with my family out in the country. I grew up spending the holidays out there riding horses, going on trail rides and exploring the outdoors so that feels like home to me.

Not grandpa’s cabin but this view will do. // The Prairie at Rachel Ashwell

What is your go-to gift for holiday parties/others?

I LOVE gifting so I am always looking for new things. My current obsession is the candles from Terrain or their edible violas that are so fun for entertaining!

1) Foster a Dog, if I can convince my husband to let me. We already have a dog (Yogi!) and are currently living in a tiny studio in the Heights. But a girl can dream, right!

2) Wireless headphones because I’m always streaming something (and singing along loudly :))

3) A vacation to Scotland next Spring, currently accepting applications for a traveling wing-man.
