Becky + Eric were wedded in February, on a beautiful spring day in downtown Houston. They envisioned a wedding that reflected their personality as a couple: fresh, modern, youthful and fun with traditional values. More than anything, an evening spent celebrating their newly joined families. Within minutes of visiting the Grove, we knew it was the one – clean lines, urban setting and a hip scene for a family affair. After exchanging their vows at the All Saints Catholic Church, the new Mr. & Mrs. were headed downtown for some good ol’ fashioned fun!
Eric is a keen Captain and loves to sail – his passion inspired the color palette: navy blues, yellow, white, cream and bronze. Joanna of Flowers by Olivia brought the palette to life through the lively and bright floral design. The nautical theme was enhanced through the venue’s gorgeous decking and wooden elements – another favorite of Eric’s. We loved how the couple incorporated their last name into the theme and design…ICE!! That’s right, ice sculptures of swans – a tastefully tacky but cheeky nod to their name and their fun personalities!

Another fun element – old trolley transportation between the church and reception by Original Trolley Co. The couple loved the vintage element and it provided a great photo backdrop!

We are big fans of yellow in floral – you just don’t see it very often anymore!

Becky collected cake stands to use as a display for the escort cards, and extra bonus – she gets to reuse them after the wedding at home with Eric!

Ice Swans for the Swansons!

Cakes allow you to incorporate design details, and be a little playful. A little bit of both for the Swanson cakes – a boat for the Groom and, classy swans & cascading floral for the Bridal cake by Cakes By Gina.
The couple put a lot effort into the layout to create a natural flow throughout the evening. They utilized the open concept decking as a dance floor where guests were kept warm by free-standing heaters and comfy blankets, dancing underneath the night sky. The city skyline, bright lights, and twinkling stars were the perfect ambiance to a romantic night.
