Leah and Michael’s wedding was the perfect combination of Texas Hill Country Chic and California Glam! Featured on Martha Stewart Weddings, Joe Goger Photography captured every fabulous detail of this couple’s wedding.
Just like when she met Michael, it was fate when Leah met well known designer Rachel Ashwell at a party in LA. The two instantly bonded over their love for the Lone Star State, and when Rachel told Leah about her bed and breakfast in Round Top, Leah immediately knew that it was the perfect choice for her and Michael’s wedding venue. Located in between Houston and Austin where their families lived, it was love at first sight when Leah and Michael saw the The Prairie in person. With a rustic country setting provided by the venue, it was important to Leah to still incorporate a sophisticated and elegant feel to the wedding. The color palette of the venue provided the soft colors and pretty pastels that Rachel is known for, so Leah added a pop of coral to up the fun factor.
Leah’s must have “wow factor” for the wedding were the flowers. Tamara Menges Designs filled the tables with gorgeous garlands and arrangements full of coral charm peonies, hydrangeas, spray roses, and amaranth. And to keep with the rustic glam theme, antlers were placed among the centerpieces.
Leah and Michael put a lot of thought into the personalized details of their wedding. Before the ceremony they passed out vintage handkerchiefs with their new married monogram to all of their guests in case of happy tears. And in honor of Michael’s family members who had previously passed away, the groom carried bouquets the color of his father’s favorite color to set in the chairs saved in their honor. That’s not the only detail Michael had prepared, at the reception he surprised his new bride with a rap song that he written about the couple’s relationship to perform in front of all of their guests!
One of the most memorable moments of the reception for the couple and their guests, was American legend Johnny Mathis singing their first dance song live. Leah’s stepfather had been golf buddies with Johnny for a while, and occasionally shared a jam session with. The newlyweds were so thrilled Johnny was able to make it to the wedding and be such a special part of their day. The evening carried on with sweets and treats provided by Shivers Shaved Ice and Brenham Olde Town Bakery, and guests danced the night away under the Texas sky.
Congratulations on one fabulous year of marriage Mr. and Mrs. Finn!
