You will not meet a more laid-back, easy going, sweet and endearing couple than Rachel and Johnalan. They were such a joy to work with for their “Eclectic Spring Garden” wedding at the Gardens of Bammel Lane this past March. We love couples who have fun with the planning process and leave the stressful planning to the professionals, and that’s exactly what they did. From our initial style and design consultation, Rachel was not afraid of bright colors or bold prints. The fabrics that inspired us became the staples for our color palette: Chartreuse Green, Magenta, Mandarin, Grape and White/Ecru.
We ran with Rachel’s fearless design by choosing to mix & match colors and patterns for her linen selections from Aztec Events and Tents. Chartreuse Green quatrefoil linens on cocktail bar-highs, Mandarin/Coral Bengaline on the cafe dinner tables outside and White/Ecru on the dinner tables inside the conservatory. Each color created different sections of the evening while remaining cohesive. The inspiration fabrics chosen at our consultation became custom pillows used for the existing benches at the Gardens and are now a sentimental addition to their home together. Rachel continued her bold streak by letting her bridesmaids chose their own dresses with one condition – black lace, and boy did it pay off! Their dresses were the right amount of drama, and the perfect contrast against the Garden’s all white conservatory and the unique hues of their grape, mandarin and magenta bouquets by Something Special in Flowers.
Rachel and Johnalan share a love for vintage as evident in their mega creative save-the-date video, “We Saved You a Seat Now Save the Date!” We continued the vintage theme by incorporating her mother’s antique odds and ends collection into the decor and centerpieces, and vintage statement pieces from Recollection Vintage Rentals. Their mint fireplace mantle served as an altar, showered in brightly colored floral in antique vessels by Carol Cox of Something Special in Flowers. They also used re-purposed vintage doors as a custom entrance to welcome their guests.
The ladies at Sugary and Chic Cake Boutique outdid themselves again with this gorgeous mandarin and magenta color blocked wedding cake. We love the elegant touches of the dainty bows on each tier and the heartfelt “let there be love” message! There is no doubt that there was an overflow of love that evening. LG Entertainment ended the night with a bang as the bride, groom and their guests danced, danced and danced some more until their sweet bubble send off.
