Sarah + Jeff at Julia Ideson Library

All things history is the love language of Sarah + Jeff, and their wedding documented that to the last ink spot. From the historic library venue to the custom dated newspaper program, it was a happy marriage of modern and traditional true to the couple’s personalities and their mutual love for historic details. The moment they visited the Julia Ideson Library, they knew it was the one. Alone the venue offers so much character and architectural detail, but lacks in color. Sarah was inspired by the beautiful teal and olive velvet found at our style and design visit, and just had to have it. It was the perfect contrast to the dark woods and intricate details of the library,  making a bold statement in a room that has seen a lot in it’s years.

The all-white and green floral design by Tamara Menges elegantly balanced the design, and added another element of sophistication. Our favorite details were the paper details – custom library cards as save the dates, and ink spotted hand-lettered invitations by Artful Designs by Rachel Nieman. The best of all the custom newspapers Sarah had transformed to serve as programs and to convey the rich history of the venue. The details don’t stop there, not by a long shot.  A beautiful custom hand painted theater backdrop of a study/library by Rachel Nieman- incorporated a landscape of their home state, Oklahoma and their dog, to serve as their altar. The entry way was framed by using oversized spools  filled with stacks of vintage books and topped with monochromatic floral arrangements.

Guests were seated at long wooden “library tables” for the reception covered by custom runners and fabric drum shades made by the bride. The room was colored in rich hues of lime green and turquoise, utilizing geometric and peacock eye fabric for extra interest and dimension. “Not only does Natalie and the entire team of TBW have impeccable style, they also have an incredible eye for details,” said Tamara, florist and owner of Tamara Menges Designs. Natalie had dreamed up some oversize lampshades due the venue library setting, so we began to figure out to execute them. Due to the size of the guest tables they had to be quite large so we hand crafted them and covered them in fabrics that Natalie and Sarah picked out. For the stands we utilized our gold candelabras that stand about 40″ tall so the scale was pretty perfect!”

The reception entertainment was action packed – Radio London Band kept guests on their toes all evening, custom silhouettes by Silhouettes by Cindi Rose served as favors as well as flip books by Anchor Entertainment, also customized with an image of a vintage post card of the Julia Ideson Library. As the night ended, the newlyweds were whisked away in a wagon(yes, a wagon!) as a nod to their Oklahoma roots. It was quite literally a wedding for the books!
