Happy 2014! How exciting is a new year – a clean slate, new trends, fresh possibilities and of course our personal favorite, a new Pantone color of the year. Radiant Orchid has been named the official Pantone color of 2014. While reflecting back on 2013 we stumbled across last years Wedding Trends Seminar at BHLDN, and discovered we predicted radiant orchid a whole year in advance! Call us psychic but honestly we just can’t get enough! Let’s review…

These dresses may be last season but still on trend for color! BHLDN‘s new spring line is in and you betcha every shade of Radiant Orchid is there. Photo by Kelli Elizabeth.

Radiant Orchid is a bold color – which we love, but it’s not for everyone. Incorporating different shades of radiant orchid or complimenting colors such as fuchsia or deeper purples help to even out the loud factor. Photo by Archetype

No matter how much you love color or radiant orchid, don’t go overboard when styling. With this table scape, the fuchsia napkins were our inspiration and just the right amount of color for the table scape. Be thoughtful with your design. Find something that inspires you – a piece of fabric, a shoe or a pattern, and build a strong foundation from it.

Floral is the best way to bring color into your design. We love how this arrangement translates well for spring, radiant orchid accompanied by blush, coral and greenery. For fall, you can easily transition into darker tones such as burgundy, eggplant or plum that equally compliment radiant orchid.

No Radiant Orchid here but Magenta is a close cousin in the same color family. A minimal invitation suite by Hello and Co. with pops of color and gold lettering.

The possibilities are endless! Word of adivce, start from scratch – don’t be a copy cat. That’s for all of you Pinterest addicts out there. (Guilty as charged!) Be original, choose wisely and add/edit when necessary.

We are over the moon this trend is still around. Multiple single tier cakes allow you to be creative and push the envelope with your cake design. Each can stand alone or be grouped together for a creative and cohesive story. Detailed Cakes are still in, painted cakes or brighter saturated colors such as oxblood and raspberry, or our new favorite Radiant Orchid.

Brass is still making it’s comeback and bringing along Bronze. Expect to see more of metals, on their own and mixing them up in table scapes and details.
