Let them eat cake!

Chef Julia Child said it best when she said, "A party without cake is just a meeting." Prepare your sweet tooth as we take a look back at five of our favorite wedding cakes from past weddings and styled shoots. This is sure to be the sweetest part of your day!

We have to admit that wedding cakes are one of our favorite parts of weddings, and not just because we love sweets! There are so many options when it comes to choosing a wedding cake, flavors, types of icing, the design…we could go on! But that is what makes wedding cakes so fun, they are always a unique representation of each couple and their wedding. Here are five of our favorites from some of our past weddings and styled shoots.

The first cake comes from Emily and Cameron’s handcrafted Oktoberfest wedding. This couple had so many personal touches all throughout their special day, including using the bride’s parents cake topper as part of their wedding cake display. This is a perfect example on how to carry family heirlooms and meaningful memories throughout your reception. // Cake by More Than Cakes and Photo by Morgan Lynn Photography

Our second cake comes from the Chioniserie inspired styled shoot that combined old and new, and eastern and western styles to create an amazing design for the modern bride. The square layers and cake topper give the cake it’s modern feel, but the bottom layer of gold bamboo is what makes this cake unlike any other! // Cake by Sugary and Chic Cake Boutique and Photo by Alyse French Photography

Next we have the bright, bold and beautiful cake that was designed by Sugary and Chic Cake Boutique for Rachel and Johnalan’s “Eclectic Garden” celebration. This cake shows that you can still have fun with the design of the bride’s cake while keeping an elegant feel. The pops of color give the cake it’s wow factor, and the added quote of “Let there be love” allows it to stand out from the rest. // Photo by Sarah McKenzie Photography

Who says that a bride’s cake has to be white? We love how the Bronze Boho Chic styled shoot featured a fall themed spiced apple cake. Not only is this cake unique and memorable, but it also makes us want to curl up beside a fire with a cup of coffee! // Cake by Buttercup Bakery and Photo by Kimberly Chau

Our final cake by Edible Designs by Jessie, is the perfect example of how inspiration can come from anywhere. Laura and Clint’s wedding had a touch of roses all throughout their ceremony and reception decor – the linens, ceremony backdrop and even the bride’s dress! The rosette designs on the cake mimicked the rosette designs from Laura’s bridal gown and brought together the overall aesthetic of the wedding. // Photo by Love Lee Photography
